Information management, the global and societal impact of computer science and engineering decisions, professional and ethical responsibility.
Objectives
1. Misinformation
2. Data privacy
3. Addictive algorithms
4. Protecting Children
5. Hate and Violence
6. Impact of AI
7. Information Security/Fraud
8. Efficient and Secure Information Management
9. Management Information Systems
Students will be required to provide an email each week detailing a single issue within the topic and best practices to address that topic.
General Requirements & Expectations
1. Attendance: Students are expected to attend all lectures. Attendance will be taken.
2. Assignments will be weekly and to be delivered by Sunday night before class.
A 20% penalty will be given for late assignments
2. Make sure you check your UCONN.EDU e-mail account regularly, or have it forwarded to an account that you use regularly. Otherwise you may miss important announcements.
Grading Percentages 10% on each of the 9 assignments and 10% on class participation.
The goal of the class will be to build a web site that will address the problems of social media and the internet
